Summertime Drinks from GA
Pear Drinks

Frosty Pear Drinks
(this is the base recipe)

2 cans (16 oz each) pear halves,
in juice or light syrup
1 can (12 oz) pineapple juice concentrate
1 can (6 oz) orange juice concentrate
1 C water

In blender or food processor,
place pears with liquid.
Process until smooth
Stir in juice concentrates and water.
Pour into large freezer safe container
and cover.
Place in freezer.
To make drinks,
scrape surface of frozen pear base
with fork to break up and measure.

Pear Fizz
Combine 1 C frozen pear base
with 1/2 C lemon-lime soda

Pear Freeze
In blender, combine 1 C frozen pear base
with 1 C peach, pineapple, or lemon sherbert,
and 1/2 C soda water.
Blend until smooth

Pear Shake
In blender combine 1 C frozen pear base
with 1 C vanilla ice cream and 1/2 C milk
Blend until smooth

Pear Spritzer
In blender combine 1 C frozen pear base
with 1/2 C white wine and 1/4 C soda water
Garnish with strawberries

SUMMER DRINK RECIPES

Fresh Lemonade

1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup boiling water
1 tablespoon freshly grated lemon peel
1 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice

Dissolve sugar in boiling water.
Add lemon peel and juice.
Store in covered container in refrigerator.
Use 1/4 to 1/3 cup of lemonade syrup base
to 3/4 cup of cold water per glass of lemonade.

Strawberry Slush

1 qt fresh strawberries
2 c. nonfat vanilla ice cream, softened
1 pkg (3oz) sugar-free strawberry Jell-O
1/2 c. boiling water
2 teaspoons lemon juice
2 liters diet lemon-lime soda, chilled

In a large bowl, mash strawberries;
add ice cream.
In a small bowl, dissolve jell in water;
stir in lemon juice.
Add to the strawberry mixture;
mix well.
Pour into a 1 1/2 qt freezer container;
cover and freeze overnight.
Remove from the freezer 15 min before serving.
Spoon into glasses; add soda.
Garnish with strawberries if desired.
Yield 10 1/2 c. servings

Cheesecake Float

4 oz. soft-style cream cheese
12 oz. strawberry pop
2 scoops Berry Frozen Yogurt
(or vanilla ice cream)

Blend together soft-style cream cheese
and strawberry pop
(3 parts pop to 1 part cream cheese).
Add scoops of frozen yogurt

Cantaloupe-Banana Slush

2 cups coarsely chopped cantaloupe
2 cups sliced ripe banana (about 2 medium)
2 cups pineapple-orange-banana juice
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. lime juice

Arrange cantaloupe and banana
in a single layer on a baking sheet;
freeze until firm.
Place frozen fruit in a food processor;
process until chunky.
With processor on,
slowly add remaining ingredients;
process until smooth.
Serve immediately.
Makes 5 1-cup servings.
